WiB Associate Membership

WiB Associate Membership

What is a WiB Associate Member?

WiB Associates are the future leaders and campus representatives of WiB.

What does Associate Membership entail?

One key aspect of the role is to be a mentor to younger WiB members and be afforded the responsibility of presenting market updates and leading break-out discussions during meetings. Associates take committee/volunteer roles for WiB special events (Conference, Alumni Tea, recruiter visits, RSO Fairs, etc.), as well as new WiB initiatives like the Alumni Database, philanthropic efforts, and the WiB Newsletter. Associates will have the freedom to lead their own projects if they choose to do so.

What are the benefits of being an Associate?

  • Associates are not required to attend all general Thursday meetings or group meetings
  • New associates will be paired with board mentors upon acceptance to the program, based on their career interests
  • Access to all WiB alumni contact information and inclusion in the WiB alumni network post-graduation
  • Associate-only get-togethers every quarter
  • Inclusion in a WiB Associate resume book shared with the top firms recruiting on campus
  • First consideration for any open board roles in the next board election cycle
  • Tangible leadership experience for stronger resume and interviews

What is the application process?

After completing the short online application that is emailed out to the WiB listhost during the Fall and Spring Quarters every year, candidates must email a current copy of their resumes to wib.uchicago@gmail.com. Selected candidates will be invited to a 15-minute interview with one or two board members. Decisions will be emailed out in the following week.

Will there be other opportunities to apply?

Application cycles are held in Fall and Spring quarters every year. All candidates are welcome to re-apply in the following application cycle for Associate Membership if not accepted the first time.
